Prop List for Trailer

- Whiskey bottle and glass
- Makeup
- Tarot cards and 'magic ball'

We kept our prop list fairly shot due to expense and also the simple idea that we didn't really want 'props' to take over - we wanted our audience to focus more on the acting within the trailer and the story line not necessarily what props were being used. The whiskey bottle and glass was used when Sam Lee - the main male protagonist within our trailer - was 'over dosing' on alcohol to prevent his feelings of 'guilt'. We definitely didn't want to use actual alcohol due to obvious, unsafe reasons and so we used an empty whiskey bottle and instead filled both the bottle itself and Sams glass with Pepsi and water to dilute it a little to ensure the colour was correct. The makeup we used was just on my face due to the fact i was supposed to be dead. We again kept this very simple so it didn't act as too much of a distraction and acted more as a 'subtle hint'. I used red eyeliner around the bottom of my eyes to convey a bloodshot appearance as well as smudging black eye-shadow in dark circles around my lower eye. This worked particularly well as it was faint and looked fairly effective as i looked 'saddened' and it also enhanced my 'deep and blank' expression to fit well with my acting. The tarot cards and the magic ball were more essential to our piece than all of the other props. These were used when Seraphina played the fortune teller. The props added a sense of realism and helped the audience understand the meaning of the scene and obviously what was going on in a much clearer sense. Although we didn't actually use the magic ball - it was just neatly placed on the table - we felt it added another layer to the scene and added texture and thought.
